The home buying process can be scary for those who have never been through the process and have little knowledge about it. Just like all other great tasks, the preparation is important. Getting ready to purchase a home is really the most important step in the whole buying process. If you prepare properly, you can save yourself a lot of stress, time, and money. In your preparation there are 3.3 things to focus in on:
1. Financial—The first step to preparing financially is to get prequalified by a lender and find out how much you can get approved for. Then, you should take a look at your budget and financial situation. Determine how much money you want to spend. Just because you can afford a certain property doesn’t mean you want to pay that much. Compare the payment amount of your prequalification, to your budget and decide how much you need to adjust it.
2. Lifestyle—Deciding what type of lifestyle you want can be pretty complicated. Looking at proximity to work, entertainment, and shopping are just a few of the factors you should consider when deciding what part of town to focus on and the type of housing you will be looking for. Thinking about things like roommates, maintenance, and style (house, flat, or townhome) are also a few factors to consider.
3. Find a Realtor—Not all real estate agents are created equally. Finding a full-time professional that is experienced and knowledgeable in your neighborhoods of interest is the single greatest resource you can utilize in the home buying process. A good Realtor should have a thorough knowledge of the buying process, the pitfalls to avoid, and the hot areas for investment.
3.3. Go Online— Doing online research by yourself is one of the most effective preparations you can make. You can learn a lot by taking a little time to look at available properties online. You can save yourself time and energy in learning where things are and what is happening in your city all online.
